Fing is a network scanner with a subscription that turns it into a monitor, provided a Fing Desktop, Fing Agent or Fingbox is running somewhere on the network. PingKit is a 19-tool network kit for iPhone with a free Mac companion that does the monitoring, and a subscription that puts the companion's findings on your phone. Both charge monthly. Both need something that stays on. The prices are not close, and neither are the feature lists, so this is worth reading before either trial ends.

What Each Needs Running
This is the part both products bury. An iPhone cannot watch a network while its app is closed, so both subscriptions are really paying for a phone-side view of something else. For Fing that something is Fing Desktop on a Mac or Windows PC, Fing Agent, or the Fingbox appliance; the pricing page states the requirement in one sentence and the Premium guide adds that "Block Network Access" and "Limit Internet Time" specifically need Fing Desktop. For PingKit it is the Mac Agent, a free menu bar app for macOS 15 or later that scans every five minutes, keeps a timeline, raises alerts and runs the speed test schedule, all without a subscription.
The difference in what you pay for is therefore this: Fing charges for the monitoring itself. PingKit gives the monitoring away on the Mac and charges $2.99 for the iPhone to see it.
Where Fing Wins
- Blocking and time limits. If the reason you want a monitor is to cut a device off, Fing does it and PingKit does not, by design.
- Device identification. Fing's database is the largest in the category. PingKit identifies well from Bonjour, SSDP, vendor prefixes and port signatures, with a cloud AI fallback on Guardian, but Fing has more names for more things.

Which Should You Choose
Choose Fing Premium if you need to block or limit devices, if your always-on computer is a Windows PC, or if you want a Fingbox rather than a computer. Choose PingKit Guardian if you have a Mac that stays on, want alerts and a timeline on your iPhone for $2.99, and would use the website or certificate monitoring or the free toolkit. If you are unsure, both have trials: Fing's is on its plans, and Guardian's is one week on iPhone and on Mac.

- PingKit does not block, limit or pause any device. It reads the network; it does not police it.
